Summary

SpicyChilli helps you monitor connected plants using companion hardware devices. The app and web dashboard store account, plant, device, and sensor information needed to provide monitoring, alerts, setup, and configuration features.

Data We Collect

Depending on how you use SpicyChilli, we may collect:

Account information

  • Email address
  • Authentication-related data

Plant and device data

  • Linked device identifiers
  • Plant names and plant locations you provide
  • Device configuration values
  • Sensor readings and timestamps
  • Device status and alert state

Provisioning and setup data

  • Wi-Fi network name provided during device provisioning
  • Setup and diagnostic logs needed to help provision hardware

Diagnostics

  • Error information and reliability logs, where enabled

How We Collect Data

  • Directly from you when you create an account or link a device
  • From device setup and BLE provisioning flows
  • From sensor readings and device status updates sent by hardware
  • From account, sync, and alert requests needed to operate the service

How We Use Your Data

  • Authenticate users and maintain accounts
  • Sync plant and device data across sessions
  • Show readings, charts, and device health information
  • Generate and deliver alerts
  • Configure and provision hardware devices
  • Improve service reliability and debug failures

Where Your Data Is Processed

  • Supabase: authentication, storage, edge functions, and queues
  • SpicyChilli backend services: API routes and device workflows
  • MQTT infrastructure: device message transport and ingestion

Sharing

SpicyChilli shares data only with service providers required to operate the app and backend infrastructure. SpicyChilli does not sell personal data.

Data Retention

Data is retained while your account is active and as needed to provide the service, subject to security, legal, and abuse-prevention requirements.

Your Choices and Controls

  • You can sign out at any time
  • You can manage linked devices and plant settings in the app
  • You can request account or data deletion through support
